N.nizah – Konflik di Syria ‘buntu’ kata Timbalan Perdana Menteri, akan mendapatkan gencatan senjata di Geneva. Timbalan Perdana Menteri Syria Qadri Jamil telah berkata bahawa konflik di negara itu adalah “buntu”, dan bahawa kedua-kerajaan mahupun pembangkang kini boleh memenangi perjuangan terang-terangan. Beliau membuat komen-komen dalam temu bual dengan sebuah akhbar Inggeris yang diterbitkan pada hari Jumaat.

Beliau berkata kerajaan Syria akan memanggil gencatan senjata apabila pusingan yang ke-2 rundingan damai yang diadakan di Geneva, tetapi kini bercakap hanya berlaku di PBB.

“Kini ujian datang. Majlis Keselamatan mesti bersedia untuk bertindak minggu depan. Ia adalah penting bagi masyarakat antarabangsa untuk berdiri dan bercakap kuat di dalamnya dari segi mungkin tentang pentingnya tindakan undang untuk membersihkan DUNIA senjata kimia di Syria, “kata Setiausaha Negara Amerika Syarikat, John Kerry dalam kenyataan terbaru beliau kepada keadaan.

Duta tetap Majlis Keselamatan PBB telah bertemu untuk mencari jalan untuk memandu perbincangan ke hadapan, pembangkang Syria telah terus memulaukan rundingan. Mereka berkata peletakan jawatan Bashar Al ‘Assad, adalah pra-syarat untuk mengadakan perbincangan.

Syria's Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil has said that the conflict in his country is "deadlocked", and that neither government nor opposition could currently win the struggle outright. He made the comments in an interview with a British newspaper published on Friday.

He added the Syrian government will be calling for a ceasefire when a second round of peace talks is convened in Geneva, but currently talking is only going on at the UN.

"Now the test comes. The Security Council must be prepared to act next week. It is vital for the international community to stand up and speak out in the strongest possible terms about the importance of enforceable action to rid the world of Syria's chemical weapons," said US Secretary of State John Kerry in his latest statement on the situation.

The UN's permanent Security Council ambassadors have met to find a way to drive talks forward, The Syrian opposition have continually boycotted talks. They say Bashar al-Assad's resignation is a precondition for talks.
